BEXLEY charities have netted £175,000 in grants from a London trust fund.

The Bridge House Estates Trust Fund, which maintains the four main bridges in London, invited charities with an annual income less than £50,000 to share in a £1m surplus.

Woodside Charitable Trust, the Boys Brigade and Westwood Home College Association were all awarded the maximum amount of £5,000 while some of the other larger grants went to Bexley Deaf Club, £3,840 and the Bexley association for disabled people, £3,630.
