Chiltern push on

Amersham and Chiltern kept up their promotion push in South West Two with a 31-17 win at Tadley.

But leaders Chippenham and second place Chinnor also won their encounters.

Marlow's year ended on a sour note as they went down 40-10 at Stow-on-the-Wold on Saturday.

The Riverwoods side conceded three tries in the final ten minutes of the South West Two clash to give Stow a flattering final score.

Marlow were hit by non-availablity just before travelling west and Paul Sharp was moved to hooker while number eight Al Smith was pushed out to the wing.

For all that, Marlow started well with Murray Walker's penalty giving them the lead as they soaked up early Stow.

Stow bagged a converted try but Fred Gorringe-Smith went over to give Marlow a 10-7 lead but Stow went into the break ahead after their flyhalf broke the Marlow defences.

And after the restart Marlow were unable to get another score while Stow got into their stride.

High Wycombe also had a disappointing finish to 2000, narrowly losing 18-14 at home to bottom club Witney.

Chesham fell to a 17-10 defeat at Thatcham in their Berks, Bucks and Oxon first division clash.
