Tickets for the eagerly anticipated Mumford & Sons gig in Carlisle sold out in less than two hours.
News that the folk rockers had included the Sands Centre on its 15-date tour was announced earlier in the week.
The majority of tickets for the gig on November 26 had already been sold on mumfordandsons.com during a pre-sale, leaving the venue with only a small allocation. These were only available in person or by booking over the phone.
Fans of the group queued at the centre to be in with a chance of tickets when they went on sale at 9am yesterday, with many more waiting by the phone.
Interest was so great for the band, who are playing the city for the first time, that all tickets had sold out by 10.40am.
A message on the Sands Centre’s social media accounts said:“Sorry to everyone who had trouble getting through on our phone system for tickets.
“Within three hours we received 13,373 calls for tickets! A staggering amount!”
The tour, entitled The Tour of Two Halves, follows the release of the band’s second album Babel this week.
It begins on November 21, concluding at The O2 in Dublin on December 16.
