Motorway and A75 closed by severe weather and crashes

Severe snowfalls across Dumfries and Galloway continues to cause major disruptions across all roads in the region.
The M74 road has been closed on several occasions and the A75 at Mouswald has been closed most of the morning.
Traffic is now getting through slowly however queues have been building because of crashed vehicles and jacknifed lorries and generally slow moving traffic.
Very strong winds, drifting snow and almost zero visibility in some areas have made driving conditions treacherous.
The A75 at Creetown is currently closed because of crashed vehicles and the severe drifting snow.
An Amber warning for further heavy snowfall has been issued by the Met Office through to 2300 hours this evening .
Drivers are being advised NOT to travel due to the extreme weather conditions, which show no signs of letting up.
