Motorists told to avoid M6 southbound

An earlier accident on the on the M6 in Lancashire is causing heavy traffic and long delays in Cumbria, say police.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the M6 southbound following a crash earlier today between junction 34 and junction 33 in north Lancashire. The crash involved three vehicles, two lorries and a car.

Traffic is heavily congested right up to junction 36 in south Cumbria.

All motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
