The family of a motorcyclist who died after a crash involving a car have paid tribute to a man who had a “newly found passion for life.”
Paul Fursey, 31, suffered fatal injuries in the collision at the junction of the A66 and Caldron Hill Road at Great Broughton last night.
He died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics called to the incident.
Mr Fursey was from Bolton Low Houses, near Wigton. His family said today: “It is with great sadness that Paul has so tragically been taken from us.
"A keen motorcyclist for several years with a newly found passion for life, Paul, who loved both home and work life, will be sorely missed by his partner Kath, his mother and two brothers.”
The car driver was a 23-year-old from Dearham, near Maryport. He suffered leg injuries and was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.
Police said the crash happened at about 11.25pm.
The road was closed for some time while inquiries were carried out.
Officers from the western roads policing unit, at Workington police station, have launched an investigation.
Witnesses have been asked to call either Pc David Edwards or Pc Lewis Powell on 101.
