I also saw it when i was in the garden putting out the rubbish on saturday 03/03 at 21:40 , it was flying over Bampton nr Haweswater. At first i thought it was a plane on fire but as it got closer i realised it was'nt as it was silent & travelling at an amazing speed & quite low to the ground (about 100ft), there was a bright white light at the front of it with a long orange flame tailing it.An amazing sight i & the girlfriend will never forget.

Wow, I thought these were rare until I looked them up online. Thousands of fireballs have been seen in recent years, some even as spectacular as this one! I wonder what's 'up'?

Having reached the age of 55, I had never seen anything like this before. I was in the backyard of my home in Barrow, looking at the stars, when the meteor appeared. It travelled at an amazing speed, from left to right of my vision, and was in my full view for 15 seconds. Delighted to have seen it. Ken.

did there find the crash site of this thing,was it a Meterite or was it something else.experement aircraft,or parts of a re-entry shuttle booster Rockets burning up. on entry.

I was walking the dog in Cockermouth at about 9.40 p.m. on Saturday 3rd. I was walking towards Gote Bridge on Low Road near the Aldi store, when I saw what seemed to be a large firework streaking from left to right within my vision. It appeared to fly right over Papcastle, over Cockermouth, and towards Buttermere. It was in sight long enough for me to realise that this was no firework. It was travelling at a tremendous speed, so I, like many others so it seems, thought it could have been a jet plane in distress, so I was fully expecting a big flash followed by the boom of an explosion as it plummeted into Grassmoor. It seemed so close. It looked exactly like one large jet engine, with a massive flame-out was crossing the sky. However for it to be "flying" as it seemed to be, it would have had to be making a noise, and this wasn't. I didn't mention it to my wife when I got in. She still doesn't believe I felt the bed move when we had the Cumbrian earthquake.

i saw this in the sky that night i thought it was a fire work but no sound we thought it was a shooting star but we were wrong we wached it dissapere .the next day went too work i think i found a piece off rock off it itse black and grey

I remember seeing a meteor when i was 11 years old and can understand how amazing it must have been to see, very lucky people who saw this. I would like to thank Stacy and Meat T Or for there posts, cheered up a miserable day!

Gutted I didn't see it ! Bet it was way better than Saturday nite television !

i spotted this to what appeared to be a ball of fire with a tail moving quite fast towards the ground one of the most amazing things io have ever seen .
