Met Office extends weather warning for Cumbria

A warning about heavy rainfall has been updated by the Met Office to include almost all of Cumbria.

The agency had initially said thundery downpours this afternoon (Tuesday), lasting into the evening, would affect the north and east of the county.

It has now extended the area to take in south and west Cumbria as well.

"The public should be aware of the risk of spray on roads and local surface water flooding," it adds.

The yellow alert is in place for the period 4pm to 12pm.
