Last updated at 12:03, Sunday, 03 March 2013
Four men have been arrested after police seized a ‘significant’ quantity of drugs.
Thirty police officers in 12 vehicles, including specialist search teams, dog handlers and a crime scene investigator, swooped on addresses in Kirkby Stephen at 7.45am yesterday.
They executed three warrants simultaneously to arrest men aged 41, 23, 20 and 16 on suspicion of conspiracy to supply mephedrone, a class B drug.
A significant quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia were seized as part of the operation that was pre-planned by the Eden Valley proactive policing team.
A police spokesman said: “Kirkby Stephen is a beautiful market town and residents are rightly proud of its longstanding community.
“There is a small minority of people in Eden who use and supply drugs.
“The operation today proves that if you tell police about problems where you live, they will act positively.”
