A worker who died after falling from an electricity pylon near Carlisle has been named.

He was Vincent John Richards, 49, of Bloxwich, near Walsall, in the West Midlands.

Mr Richards fell to his death last Saturday from a pylon in a field between Great Orton and Aikton.

It is understood he may have taken ill before the incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene but despite the efforts of paramedics he was pronounced dead.

Mr Richards is believed to have been part of a two-man team employed by Bilfinger Industrial Services.

An inquest will be opened into his death on July 18 at the coroner’s court in Cockermouth.
