Man Utd snub memoriam tribute to Carlisle-based fan

Mean-minded Manchester United have upset the family and friends of a Carlisle-based fan who died last year by refusing permission to use the club crest in a memoriam.

Have your say

Have I read on the bill boards of a u turn by Man Utd ( no mention anywhere on here )so somebody has asked the right person for permission then !!!!!

Sorry to read this. I speak as someone who stopped following the game 35 years ago due to crowd violence rearing its repulsive head. What harm would using the club crest on a memorial do? MUFC should be ashamed of themselves.

Over the years when I was involved in raising money for charity Sir Alex and Man Utd were always very generous in donating goods, this is just another non story to get arguments going

It was 13 yrs ago and it wasn't on the headstone it was on the grass in front of the headstone by a landscape gardener and nobody has ever questioned it.
The family of this man will get a reply from sir Alex. It will just have been a jobsworth.

Again another example of a clubs ignorance to it's fan base.Sport is not sport anymore it is a hard nosed, take no prisoners business which only benefits the players, the managers and the clubs directors. This example of poor
"sportmanship" is why i have just thrown my man united 60's strip in the bin.
Goodbye sport may you rest in peace.

Bailey Liverpool has fans from Merseyside and does not need assorted shepherds and yokles bussed in to give it support.

Looks like this story is becoming an opportunity for envious Liverpool fans to get their digs in!I would not have expected anything less.
It does seem quite inconsiderate that they would not allow the crest to be shown...but was it the decision of one officious 'jobsworth' just quoting company policy? Was it followed up?

So all people who have a tattoo of a clubs crest have broken copyright laws ?
Do they need to make a cash donation to their club to make it ok ?

Is The Autumn Statement good news for Cumbria?

Yes - the enterprise zone jobs and airport flights are a fantastic boost

It's more positive than expected but could have been better

I agree with Jamie Reed, it is all smoke and mirrors
