Man took drugs to Solfest to share with his friends

A man caught taking drugs into Solfest music festival was planning to share them among his friends to celebrate his 21st birthday, Carlisle Crown Court heard.

Aron Martos was arrested after police saw a small package being thrown out of a car being driven into the festival near Silloth on Saturday August 24 last year.

The package was later found to contain a single wrap of cocaine, worth about £17, which Martos intended to use himself.

But when they searched him police found 12 wraps of amphetamine, worth nearly £75, held in his tightly clenched fist.

Martos, of Howrigg Bank, Wigton, pleaded guilty to possessing the cocaine and intending to supply the amphetamine.

He was put under a curfew, to keep him indoors at home from 8pm to 6am every night for the next six weeks. He was also ordered to pay a £60 statutory surcharge.
