Man suffers serious head injuries in Carlisle nightclub assault

A 20-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries following a nightclub assault in Carlisle.

It happened in the early hours of this morning, at about 3.17am, at the Attic club in Crosby Street.

The alleged assault left the victim, from the city, seriously hurt. He was taken by ambulance to the Cumberland Infirmary and police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

A 29-year-old man, from Carlisle, was arrested on suspicion of assault, causing grievous bodily harm. He has been bailed until September 14.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the nightclub at the time and may have witnessed the incident to contact them on 101.
