Man seriously hurt after assault at function in Cumbrian hotel

A man suffered a serious head injury after being assaulted at a hotel function.
He was attacked as guests were leaving the White Heather in Kirkbride, near Wigton, early on Saturday.
Police have arrested a 27-year-old Wigton man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.
They are now appealing for any witnesses to the assault to come forward.
