Man kicked unconscious during 'row' on Cumbrian street

A man was knocked unconscious after being kicked in the head during a vicious attack.

The 18-year-old was taken by ambulance to hospital following the assault in Station Road, Workington.

Police say the assault followed what they have described as an “altercation” between two men, near St Michael’s School.

“That led to one of the males attacking the other, pushing him over and kicking him to the head, causing him to become unconscious,” a spokeswoman said.

“The unconscious man was assisted by passers-by and taken to the West Cumberland Hospital by ambulance. He has since made a full recovery.”

Witnesses to the attack, at about 5.45pm on Wednesday, are being sought by police.

A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault following the attack has been bailed while an investigation continues.

Anyone with information should contact PC David Horky at Workington police on 101.
