A woman was allegedly raped by a drunken man while she was 18 weeks pregnant.
Jonathon David Robinson, 25, is alleged to have subjected the woman to both physical and sexual abuse during her hour-long ordeal.
Robinson, who used to live in Aspatria but has recently been living in Corby, Northamptonshire, has pleaded not guilty at Carlisle Crown court to charges of rape, sexual assault and assault causing actual bodily harm.
Opening the case for the prosecution, barrister Sarah Johnson told the jury of seven women and five men that Robinson had “quickly become aggressive and the woman quickly became very frightened.”
He was treating her so badly “her heart was pounding in her ears”, she said.
He rubbed his body against hers, punched her to the body a number of times and then raped her, she said.
Ms Johnson told the court: “She told him she didn’t want him to have sex with her and she was crying.”
The court heard after his arrest Robinson denied having sex with the woman.
The trial continues.
