Madness announce date for new Carlisle Racecourse concert

Madness are to perform at Carlisle Racecourse this summer, it has been announced today.
The Nutty Boys have signed up again to play at the track 12 months after torrential rain forced the cancellation of the gig there last year.
More than 7,500 tickets were refunded and the band vowed to return to play for their fans.
The group, which performed live on top of Buckingham Palace as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and played during the Olympics closing ceremony, will headline the Stobart Summer Festival on July 6.
They are playing Carlisle as part of their 10-date Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da tour from June to September.
Richard Clements, Carlisle Racecourse’s general manager, said they were absolutely thrilled to be able to bring Madness to Carlisle at the second attempt.
“They are a national treasure. We had sold more than 7,500 tickets in advance last time and we expect demand to be extremely high again because it’s superb value-for-money entertainment to see Madness after an evening’s racing," he added.
The racecourse event is the only Madness date in Cumbria in 2013.
Tickets, priced £25 for adults, went on sale at 9am at www.carlisle-races.co.uk and on 0844 579 3002.
Admission on the evening will be from £30, if still available, as a crowd limit of 9,500 has been set. Tickets include entry to both an evening race meeting followed by the open-air trackside concert.
Under-fives will be admitted free of charge and a limited number of children’s tickets will be available for those aged five-17. Priced £10, these must be bought with at least one adult ticket for every two children’s tickets.
Gates are scheduled to open at 3.30pm, with a programme of family entertainment before the racing, which will begin around 6.30pm. The Madness concert is due to start around 9.15pm.
