Lorry left abandoned by thieves in Carlisle petrol stration

A truck was found abandoned in a petrol station forecourt after would-be thieves tried to fill it up with fuel before making their escape.

The 7.5 ton Leyland DAF vehicle was found by the pumps at the Hills Carleton filling station on the A6 London Road, on the outskirts of Carlisle.

Police found the truck in the early hours of yesterday morning, after being alerted by an alarm at the petrol station which went off.

A police spokesman said: “It was in the process of being filled up with fuel.”

Those leading the investigation are appealing for information or witnesses who saw anything suspicious in the area.

Call police on 101.
