THREE youths had to be rescued from Carlisle Cathedral after climbing almost 50ft up the scaffolding surrounding the building.
Firefighters from the city's east and west fire stations were called to the scene at about 9.10pm.
The teenagers, believed to be about 17, were spotted by police who told them to stay were they were until help arrived.
The crews used ladders to bring them to safety. It is unknown how long they were up there before police arrived.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said no one was injured.
"We had two ladders up to two different roofs and brought them down," he said.
"They were maybe about 10 or 15 metres up. It's a high scaffold around the bottom end near Paternoster Row. They were in that area."
