A teenage yob who shouted racist abuse during Carlisle United's high-profile match against Premier League giants Everton has been handed a five year football banning order.
Owen Newbury, 18, admitted being responsible for foul language launched after the Merseyside club went a goal up in front of a 17,000 strong crowd at Brunton Park.
Newbury, of Skinburness Drive, Silloth, admitted, during an appearance at Carlisle's magistrates' court today, racially aggravated public disorder.
The court was told racist comments were made after Everton player Aroune Kone scored after only 90 seconds in front of Carlisle's Warwick Road end during a match televised live on TV.
Magistrates also heard he was "thoroughly ashamed" of what he had done.
Newbury was banned from regulated football matches for five years.
He was given a one-year community order and must carry out 140 hours of unpaid work. He must pay costs and charges totalling £145.
Carlisle lost the FA Cup tie 3-0. It was held on January 31.
