A WOMAN has been taken to hospital following a two-car crash on one of the main routes into Carlisle.

It happened at 8.15am on Dalston Road, near its junction with Percy Road.

The two cars involved were a Volkswagen Golf and a Saab.

The Saab driver, a Carlisle woman in her forties, was taken to the Cumberland infirmary by ambulance. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

The Volkswagen driver, a 26-year-old man also from Carlisle, was unhurt.

Motorists experienced disruption as a result of the crash.

At one stage the road was closed. 

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash.
