A WOMAN has been found guilty of stealing more than £15,500 from a disabled pensioner.

Rebecca Collier, 44, used Rodney Bower's cash card to take his money over a period of many months during 2014 and 2015.

She had previously invited Mr Bower, who is aged in his 70s, to live with her after he was discharged from hospital.

Collier denied six charges of theft, and went on trial at Carlisle Crown Court. A jury cleared her of three allegations but found her guilty of the remaining three offences.

They had heard Collier had made up to three cashpoint withdrawals a week, stealing money which the pensioner had inherited.

Collier, of Fleswick Avenue, Whitehaven, will be sentenced on March 11. In the meantime she was remanded in custody by Judge Peter Davies.
