A woman has admitted a violent attack in Carlisle city centre.

Stacey Michelle McMillan, 29, pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Fiona Oliver on April 25 this year.

Carlisle Crown Court heard she headbutted her victim in Botchergate.

Judge Peter Hughes QC adjourned the case until October 28 for sentence.

The court heard that before then she will be the subject of an assessment by a representative of recovery service Unity. This will determine whether an alcohol treatment requirement could form part of her punishment.

In the meantime, McMillan, of Burn Street, Longtown, near Carlisle, was remanded on unconditional bail.
