Three schools in west Cumbria have been closed this morning.
Both Cockermouth School in Cockermouth and the town's All Saints' CofE School, on Slatefell Drive, have been shut due to a lack of water.
Both are due to reopen tomorrow (Thurs, Feb 11).
In addition, St Begh's school in Whitehaven is closed today due to a burst water main.
Parts of Whitehaven town centre have been closed off this morning as police and utility company officials deal with the fault.
A spokesman for United Utilities said engineers had been despatched to the affected area, which is reported to include Coach Road.
An assessment will be made.
"The early indications from the police are that the damage is severe," said a spokesman for United Utilities.
