A north Cumbrian man who admitted a string of sickening child pornography offences has has been jailed for three and a half years.

Neil Cameron McIntosh, 51, of Stanley Road, Brampton, was sentenced today Carlisle Crown Court. He had admitted possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children and also possessing extreme pornographic images, including portraying an indecent act with a dog.

McIntosh was also put on the Sex Offender Register indefinitely and was banned from ever working with children.

Officers found that McIntosh had nearly 3,000 indecent images which fell into categories A to C - with A being the most serious.

He committed the offences between July 2014 and April 2016 on a number of internet enabled devices in Brampton.

The defendant had no previous convictions.

Detective Inspector Jenny Beattie, Digital Media Investigation Unit, said: “This sentence will hopefully act as a deterrent to those who view and distribute illegal images. We will continue to prosecute those who abuse children by engaging in this sort of behaviour.

“We encourage anyone who has any suspicions of any sort of abuse to contact us so we can investigate. By doing this we can continue to protect children by bringing offenders to justice."
