Two teenage girls arrested in connection with an alleged stabbing in Carlisle have been bailed.

A 21-year-old man remains in hospital with serious, but not believed to be life-threatening, injuries.

The girls, aged 19 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following an incident at an address on Mardale Road, Raffles.

Officers were called to the scene, off Creighton Avenue, at around 6am on Saturday following reports of an assault.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or who witnessed anything to call 101, quoting incident number 75 of October 1.
