A teenager will be sentenced later this year after he admitted a string of child sex crimes.

Lewis Steven Peake, 18, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court yesterday to face a total of 10 charges.

During a hearing in front of Judge Peter Hughes QC, Peake admitted seven counts of intentionally causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Several different children are named in the charges.

Peake also pleaded guilty to attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming; sexual communication with a youngster; and possessing five indecent photographs of a child.

A number of the offences are said to have been committed while Peake was living in the Whitehaven area.

Judge Hughes adjourned the case to seek pre-sentence and psychiatric reports.

Peake, latterly of Luton Road, Ellesmere Port, was told he is due to receive his punishment at the crown court on July 28.

In the meantime he was remanded in custody by Judge Hughes.
