A COMPILATION album featuring bands from across the county will raise money for flood-hit communities.

CN Group's arts and entertainment website Cumbria Live has curated Rock For Recovery - a downloadable album that includes songs from 30 artists - with all proceeds being donated to the Cumbria Flood Appeal.

Highly-regarded bands Colt 45, The Sun Explodes and Paper Cranes appear alongside up-and-coming acts such as Over and Out, Stand Up Arcade, and The Chadelics with many offering exclusive tracks for the project.

The album is downloadable via the Bandcamp music sharing website priced £2, with all funds raised for Cumbria Community Foundation's Flood Appeal being matched by CN Group, which has raised more than £3,000 to date.

Cumbria Live's Karl Steel said: "We saw that a lot of the bands across the county were already doing their bit for the cause by organising fundraising concerts, and looked at how we could do something that covered the whole of Cumbria.

"Unsurprisingly the bands we contacted were only too keen to be involved, and while we couldn't include everyone, we have got a good mix of well-known and new artists from across the genres - there's rock, indie, pop, folk and rap - and from almost every town too.

"Obviously we want to raise as much money as possible as the flooding at the end of last year affected almost everyone in Cumbria directly or indirectly, but hopefully people might discover one or two new musicians they didn't know existed. Although it's a cliché, there is something for everyone."

Rock For Recovery is available from cumbrialive.bandcamp.com priced £2.
