Members of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were scrambled to help a 45-year-old woman who had suffered a serious ankle injury after a slip.

The 45-year-old woman was walking with her partner when she slipped descending the last part of Sty Head to Stockley Bridge path, near Seathwaite.

The mountain rescue were called just before 12.30pm on Sunday after the North West Ambulance Service had already arrived at Seathwaite Farm.

A post on the team's Facebook site said: "The team were called after the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) ambulance had already arrived at [Seathwaite] Farm which slowed things down somewhat, but two vehicles were mobilised within 15 minutes, and three local team members attended direct from home."

The NWAS paramedic had already carried out first aid treatment on the woman by the time the team arrived.

The patient was carried down to Seathwaite Farm by team members in relays. She was then taken by ambulance to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for treatment.

A total of 16 team members attended the incident - the team's 26th this year - for just under two hours.
