A POPULAR Cumbrian cafe in is being put up for sale.

The Filling Station, in Crosthwaite Road, Keswick, is being put on the market by its owner after five years at the helm.

This news comes after another major Cumbrian tourism business - Manor House Park, a caravan park in Allonby - was sold for £2.25m.

Kieron Graham, the owner of The Filling Station, who lives in Carlisle, told the News & Star he wants to return to his original career as an engineer and to see the business realise its full potential with new owners.

He said: “My wife and I have had some interest from a few people over the last few years and we thought that now might be the right time.

“My other career was as an industrial engineer and my wife is a teacher in Carlisle, but we’ve been very hands off with the business.

“It’s a great asset but I think it’s time to move back into my original career.

He added: “It would really suit a couple who would be happy to work in the cafe, we’ve hired a manager and a chef and used an outside firm for agency staff but we don’t make the most of its potential at the moment."

He added: “We just think that it’s been a great five years but it’s time for us to move on and let someone realise The Filling Station’s true potential.”

While Mr Graham has announced the sale, he has not yet listed the business on the market.

This news came after it was announced that Manor House Park in Allonby has been sold to a holiday park group based in North Wales from an asking price of £2.25m.

This sale was handled by property firm Colliers and the site attracted several interested parties.

The 13.7 acre complex holds 188 static caravan pitches with hard standing pitches for 20 touring caravans and bar and restaurant.

The acquisition makes it Lyons Holiday Parks’ tenth park in the north west.

Director Joseph Mound, said: “We will look to further expand the business and continue to provide high quality holidays to our customers; old and new.”
