A pensioner has denied causing the death of a woman by driving dangerously on the M6 Motorway near Penrith.
Motorist Balmer Colin McLachlan, 74, who appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today, entered a not guilty plea to a charge following an accident on January 7 last year.
He is accused of committing the offence on the motorway's northbound carriageway at Catterlen near Penrith, causing the death of Christine McGuire, 67.
At the time, he was driving a Nissan Pathfinder car northwards.
McLachlan, of Belmont Crescent, Kilmarnock, Scotland, will face a three day trial at Carlisle Crown Court starting on November 15.
He was granted bail until that date.
Mrs McGuire, a retired from Stranraer, was married with two sons and three grandchildren.
She was driving a blue Renault Kangoo.
