A new shop that specialises in jewellery, candles and handbags is opening in The Lanes Shopping Centre next week.

Joma Jewellery & Katie Loxton will open its first concept store in Carlisle on Saturday, September 3.

Local retailers Sands Giftware of Penrith and Fagans of Cockermouth have been collaborating with founders Geoff & Katie Loxton in the establishment and opening of the Carlisle shop.

It will open in a unit on Globe Lane formerly occupied by Pandora jewellery, before it moved to a new site in the shopping centre.

David Jackson, commercial director of The Lanes Shopping Centre, said: “It’s really good news to see another shop opening and this a first concept store launching in Carlisle.

“We are looking forward to having Katie Loxton and Joma Jewellery in the shopping centre.

“The unit it is occupying is opposite Timpsons. It will have a feel of Pandora about it. The fittings are mainly white. I was in there the other day and work is progressing well.”

Joma Jewellery was established in 2008 by Geoff Loxton and Katie Doyle while they were travelling through the Far East and Asia.

Joma Jewellery is known for its simple, yet elegant designs.

Katie Loxton, founder of Joma Jewellery, brought out her own fashion accessories range. This includes clutch bags, scented candles and luxurious scarves.

Also opening in The Lanes is Australian retailer Smiggle, which specialises in children’s school essentials.

It will create eight jobs when it opens next month.

Its Carlisle operation is its first shop in Cumbria.

Toys R Us opens in The Lanes this weekend after a three-year absence from the city.
