CARLISLE CITY COUNCIL

Collections will be one day later than usual until January 6, when refuse and recycling will be taken away on Saturday, January 7.

They return to normal from Monday, January 9.

Real Christmas trees can be recycled using garden waste bins or at the Household Waste Recycling Centre on Rome Street or Townfoot Industrial Estate in Brampton.

Foil wrapping and glittery cards should not be recycled.

Take unwanted clothes to textile collection points at supermarkets and recycling sites or to charity shops. Unwanted toys can be taken to youth clubs and charity shops.

COPELAND COUNCIL

Refuse and recycling collections will be one day later than normal until January 6.

The council is urging people to use their black box kerbside collection as much as possible, reminding them that they can put out as much paper, glass, tins and cans as they like, as long as it is sensibly packaged.


EDEN COUNCIL

Blue bags refuse collections until January 6 will be one day later than normal.

Some garden waste and bag and box collection dates have been amended on individual recycling calendars.

Information on recycling Christmas trees, cards, wrapping paper, stamps, decorations, bottles, aluminium foil as well as information about your bag and box and garden waste collection can be found at www.eden.gov.uk by searching Christmas Recycling.


ALLERDALE COUNCIL

Refuse, paper and purple bag collections will take place one day later than normal until January 6, when bins will be emptied on January 7.

Additional green waste collection will take place between January 16 and 27. Residents are asked to check their waste collection calendars for details of specific dates.

Christmas trees placed next to green waste bins will also be taken away on collection days.

CUMBRIA COUNTY COUNCIL

Recycling

Household Waste Recycling Centre’s will all be open as usual with the exception of New Year's Day, when they will all be closed.

The usual opening hours as follows:

  • Bousteads Grassing in Carlisle, Glasson Industrial Estate in Maryport, Flusco in Penrith and Clay Flatts in Workington all open 8am to 6pm every day.
  • Syke Park, Wigton - 8am to 6pm, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday.
  • Townfoot Industrial Estate, Brampton - 10am to 6pm every day except Tuesday.
  • Yeathouse Quarry, Frizington - 8am to 4pm every day.
