Guests have gathered to celebrate the official opening of a new £13m-plus community hub in Carlisle.

A plaque was unveiled at the Harraby Community Campus by councillors Stewart Young and Colin Glover, leaders of Cumbria County and Carlisle City Councils respectively.

They were joined by Kenny Boom, chairman of governors at Pennine Way Primary School, which moved onto into the Edgehill Road facility last winter, and Margaret Clapperton, chairman of Harraby Community Centre.

The campus provides a new home for Pennine Way Primary School and Harraby Community Centre.

It also has enhanced sports facilities and a community theatre as well as a cafe, library and soft play area.

A competitive cycle track is also due to be created this summer, providing a leading regional facility for the sport.

Other organisations using the campus - funded by the county and city councils - include Barnardo's and St Aidan's Day Nursery.
