MOUNTAIN rescuers have carried out a rescue at a popular Cumbrian beauty spot.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called to help a woman who had slipped and injured her ankle while walking at Aira Force near Ullswater.
Seven volunteers from the team were scrambled to help the 60-year-old woman after police were alerted.
When they arrived on the scene the woman's condition was assessed and a suspected fractured ankle was diagnosed.
The ankle was dressed and placed in a vacuum splint by members of the team before the woman was stretchered to an ambulance.
She was then taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for further treatment.
Mountain rescuers were at the scene for around two hours, following the call yesterday afternoon.
