A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital after a crash near Alston.
The 68-year-old suffered serious chest injuries and was treated at the scene before being flown to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary yesterday.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called at 3.30pm and its doctor-led trauma team assessed the man, who arrived at hospital in a stable condition.
