Try-hero Jason Mossop says last Sunday's derby clash was one of the best games he has ever played in.

Mossop crashed over out wide with two seconds to go to bring Workington Town level on points with Whitehaven in the Championship clash.

Then Jarrod Sammut's touchline conversion handed them the 30-28 victory and two vital league points.

Mossop said: "

It was just a great team performance considering what we went through during the game, playing with 12 men for 73 minutes.

"So to come away with a win was just reward for the effort and commitment every lad gave on the day.

"The lads had belief because we put that much effort in during the game we felt we deserved something

"But I would be lying if I said I didn't think when they scored, with two minutes to go, that we had blew it.

"So to get the score and go from a low to such a buzz was great and then Jarrod getting the kick off the touchline.

"It was by far one of the best games I have played in."

Mossop admitted friends and former team-mates rated it as one of the best derby games of recent years.

But he says Town have to put that behind them now and concentrate on the next two points on offer - at Oldham on Sunday.

He added: "We have had a pretty poor season but the last two weeks where we have picked up victories in the last few minutes has given the lads confidence.

"But now it is all about Oldham. We have to kick on from here and hopefully get on a good run.

"We can take a lot of confidence from the way we have been playing. But we have to put last week to bed and go to Oldham, who are in a similar position, just a few points ahead of us.

"We know we will have to earn the win. Oldham are a good side and they have upset quite a few teams down there.

"It is going to be a difficult and physical game so we need to be switched on or we could come away with a hiding."
