A man was taken to hospital after he was assaulted in the centre of a north Cumbrian town.
The 41-year-old suffered an injury to his head during the incident which happened near to the Nags Head pub in Brampton.
An ambulance was called to the scene at around 1.20am on Christmas Eve.
The News & Star has been told that the man was released a few hours later from the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, after receiving treatment.
Police investigating the incident say they want to speak to a white man with short dark hair who was wearing a cream t-shirt and light coloured trousers.
They also appeal for anyone who was in the area or have any information to get in touch.
