A teenager has been arrested after a man was left with a broken eye socket following an assault at a Carlisle taxi rank.
The assault took place at the taxi rank in Court Square, near to Carlisle railway station, sometime between 3.40am and 3.55am on Bank Holiday Monday.
The man who was assaulted was 21 years old and was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary with a range of facial injuries. He has since been discharged.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has since been released under investigation.
A spokesman said: "Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault to get in touch.
"The area was busy with people at the time and it is likely that this incident will have been witnessed by a number of people."
