A man has appeared in court charged with an alleged attempted robbery in west Cumbria.
Nathaniel Rudd, 27, of Robert Owen Place in Cleator Moor is accused of carrying out the offence at knifepoint at Sproats Newsagents on Ennerdale Road, also in Cleator Moor, on Tuesday.
Rudd appeared at Carlisle Magistrates' Court in a grey sweatshirt and dark trousers and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on March 14.
