A RUNNER has collapsed and died while taking part in a Cumbrian fell face.

The man, in his 30s, died while competing in the annual Loughrigg Fell Race near Ambleside.
Off duty medics and volunteers from Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue tried unsuccessfully to revive the man, who is from the county.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service was also sent to the scene, alerted at around 7.30pm yesterday.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.
