A motorist injured in a two-car crash has died in hospital, police confirm.

The man was driving a Honda Jazz car, which was involved in a collision with an Audi A1 car, being driven by a 69-year-old woman from Berkshire.

The collision happened at about 11am on Sunday, on the A75 at its junction with the B6357 for Annan, Dumfries and Galloway.

Both drivers and both their passengers were freed from their vehicles by Scottish Fire and Rescue crews, before they were all taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The Honda driver, an 83-year-old man from Dumfries, died today.

Sergeant Leigh McCulloch of the Road Policing Unit said: "We are carrying out a full crash investigation into this collision and would ask that anyone who may have witnessed it to get in touch with us at Lockerbie on the 101 number."
