Off-duty paramedics, mountain rescue members and air ambulance staff rushed to help a man who suffered a cardiac arrest in a Keswick street.
The man, in his fifties, was left in a critical condition.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the scene at about 3.50pm on Sunday.
A public defibrillator was used to restart the man’s heart.
He was then flown to Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary with life-threatening injuries.
The multi-agency response included GNAAS, an immediate care doctor, the North West Ambulance Service, off-duty paramedics, mountain rescue team members and passers by.
