A man has been charged following an alleged attempted robbery at a shop.
Nathaniel Rudd, 27, of Robert Owen Place, Cleator Moor, is accused of attempted robbery and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place.
The charges follow an incident at the town's Sproats Newsagents, Ennerdale Road, at 5.10am on Tuesday, when a man is said to have cut a female assistant's hand with a knife.
Rudd will appear before West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Workington today.
