A man has admitted sending unwanted mail to a former partner he was banned from contacting.

David John Williamson, 39, pleaded guilty to one offence when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today.

Williamson posted a card and letter to the Penrith address between August 2 and 23.

At that time he was prohibited from contacting the woman in any way by a restraining order which was imposed in February, 2015.

The court heard that the victim told police how Williamson's latest criminal conduct had made her "a nervous wreck" and that she wanted nothing more to do with him.

Judge Peter Davies requested the preparation of a pre-sentence report and adjourned the case until October 31.

Williamson, of Lowther Terrace, Penrith, was remanded in custody until that date.
