An Egremont man has appeared in court accused of robbing a Workington convenience store.
Adam Ian Littleton, 22, of Central Avenue, appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court this morning.
He is accused of robbery at the By-Wise shop on Vulcans Lane at about 10.10am on Monday, and carrying an offensive weapon - a plank of wood with nails in it - during the incident.
He also faces a charge of assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on July 3.
Littleton, wearing a dark blue tracksuit, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth during the brief hearing.
He did not enter any pleas.
