A MAN has admitted posting indecent images of a teenage girl on social media.

Michael Nowak, 24, entered guilty pleas to four charges when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court yesterday.

These were two counts of making indecent photographs of a 17-year-old female and two charges of disclosing private sexual photographs/films with intent to cause distress.

The crimes were committed in Penrith on September 11 and 12 last year.

No details about the offences were given during the short hearing before Judge Peter Davies.

Judge Davies asked for background information to be prepared on the defendant. He adjourned the case until May 9. Nowak was was remanded on conditional bail.

Greg Hoare, defending, said Nowak did have some previous court appearances - but none since 2013. There was nothing of a similar nature.

"I am bailing you but that cannot be any indication as to what the sentence will be," Judge Davies told Nowak, of Mill Street, Penrith.

"I have not made my mind up yet. All options are open to the court."

As a result of his admissions, Nowak was told his name will be added to the sex offenders' register.

Judge Davies said to him: "Before you leave (court) you must sign the register. If you move address or are out of the area you must inform the authorities, particularly the police."
