A man has admitted possessing an array of extreme pornography and indecent images of children.
At Carlisle Crown Court today, John Robert Nugent, 58, admitted six counts of making indecent still photographs of children, two charges of possessing prohibited still images of children and the possession of extreme pornographic moving images.
His offences came to light after police searched a Maryport address in November, 2014.
Two computer towers were seized along with an external hard drive and a laptop, leading to the illegal images being recovered.
Nugent's case was adjourned by Judge Barbara Forrester, who directed that a background report on the defendant should be prepared by the probation service.
Nugent - formerly of Maryport but now of Shotteswell, Warwickshire - was granted bail.
He is due to be sentenced at the crown court on Wednesday, July 27.
