A man has admitted possessing thousands of indecent images of children - plus one photograph portraying a grossly indecent act with a dog.

Neil Cameron McIntosh, 51, of Stanley Road, Brampton, appeared before magistrates in Carlisle this morning where he admitted six charges.

These include possessing an extreme pornographic image portraying an indecent act with a dog, which was grossly offensive, disgusting and of an obscene nature; three offences of making an indecent photo/pseudo photo of a child; one offence of possessing an indecent image photograph/pseudo photo of a child; and one charge of distributing three indecent images photo/pseudo photo of a child.

The court heard there were almost 3,000 indecent images which fell into categories A to C - with A being the most serious.

The charges relate to dates between July 5, 2014 and April 28, 2016. They all took place in Brampton.

McIntosh was told that because of the number of offences and the nature of some of the images, his case could only be dealt with at Carlisle Crown Court.

He was granted conditional bail prior to his appearance at the higher court on November 25.
