Magistrates' court in Rickergate
A district judge has sent the case of a 26-year-old man facing child sex charges to the Carlisle Crown Court.
Billy Sowerby, of Croft Close, Brough, Kirkby Stephen, entered no pleas when he appeared at the city's Rickergate courts complex today.
There are four allegations of rape, and three of sexual assault. He was granted bail and his case will be next considered by a circuit judge at the Crown Court on September 23.
